The Czajka Sewage Treatment Plant, a municipal biological sewage treatment plant using microorganisms - on the photo one of the last stages in the circulation of water through the city before its return to the Vistula.

Thanks to funds from the European Union, the sewage treatment plant will undergo extensive reconstruction and modernization in the next few years. Connected to the left bank part of the city by means of collectors lying at the bottom of the Vistula, the plant will collect and clean over 80% of Warsaw's sewage. The rest will be cleaned by the South Sewage Treatment Plant. In 2010, Warsaw will be treating the entirety of the sewage it produces.
