A photo taken at the moment of the peak flood wave. Water is gathered from under the bottom of the Vistula into the Czerniakowski settling tank - an enormous reservoir storing water for the city - by a system of drains assuring high quality water independently of the quality of the water in the river. From here the water is pumped up to the Filtering Station of the Central Watermains Works, where water is purified and sent into the delivery system supplying water for part of Warsaw.
