The Presidential Palace (formerly the Koniecpolski, Radziwiłł, and Namiestnikowski palace, and the Palace of the Office of the Council of Ministers) is currently the seat of the president of the Republic of Poland. During the pre-uprising period (before 1831), the palace was the seat of the government of the Kingdom of Poland, then of the Warsaw Gubernatorial Government; in the years of the 2nd Republic and of the Polish People's Republic it was the seat of the Council of Ministers. The Warsaw Pact Treaty was signed in this building in 1955, and in 1989 it was here that the Round Table negotiations took place.
